arTpeggio

Music across centuries, for two guitars

arTpeggio explores the unusually broad musical world of the classical guitar duo, bringing together original repertoire and transcriptions from the Renaissance to the present day.

THE DUO

A shared musical journey

arTpeggio was founded in 2017 by Kohut Petra and Árpád Kató, growing from a shared interest in chamber music and in the expressive possibilities of two classical guitars.

Over the following years, the duo developed a varied repertoire and appeared in concerts and festivals in Hungary and abroad. Since 2025, Árpád continues arTpeggio together with Janka Csiki, opening a new chapter in the ensemble's musical life while continuing the artistic direction established from its beginnings.

REPERTOIRE

From Renaissance to the present

The repertoire of arTpeggio reaches from Renaissance, Baroque and Classical music to Romantic and Contemporary works, reflecting the remarkable range of colours and textures possible with two guitars.

Alongside music written for guitar, the duo performs transcriptions that bring works from other instrumental traditions into the guitar repertoire. Several of these arrangements and transcriptions have been created by Árpád Kató specifically for two guitars.

IN CONCERT

On stage

Since its founding, arTpeggio has appeared in concert halls and festivals including Nádor Hall, the Synagogue of Győr, Müpa Glass Hall, Óbudai Társaskör and the Harmonia Cordis International Guitar Festival.

The duo has received first prize in the teacher category of a national chamber music competition.

Concert programmes combine works from different periods and styles, allowing the character of the two guitars to change from one piece to the next.
